Marty Weems, LCSW
I am a native Virginian, but have called North Carolina home for most of my life. I received my undergraduate degree from Elon University and my MSW from Catholic University. I have been a social worker for 20 years and have had the privilege of being a clinician, trainer, administrator, and professor at the UNC School of Social Work. I am absolutely passionate about helping people on their journey towards wellness.
I have formal training in CBT and Motivational Interviewing, but really take an interpersonal approach with my clients. I really believe that clients are the experts in their own lives. I aim to partner with clients to assist them on their journey to wellness. My areas of interest are working with LGBTQI individuals and those struggling with anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and substance abuse.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two dogs, cooking, hiking, and traveling.
